Company setup

Company setup in Vinstra Flow is lighter than the name suggests. There is a list of companies with a name and a logo, a separate list of third party companies, and a settings screen that controls how the data grids behave.

Companies, at config/companies. Placeholder image.

A company record holds a Name and a Logo path. That is the whole record. The logo is what appears on printed documents, so upload the version you want customers to see rather than a small web copy.

Company matters more than its size suggests, because it is a field on records you create later. Work orders, gate passes and products all carry a company, and it is how the system separates work when a group runs more than one trading name from the same installation.

  1. Go to Config, Companies.
  2. Select Add.
  3. Enter the Name exactly as it should print on documents.
  4. Set the Logo path.
  5. Select Save.

Do this before you create users, products or work orders. Records created first will need editing afterwards to point at the right company.

Third party companies placeholder

This is a separate list, at Config, Third party companies, for organisations that are not you. It has the same add, view and update pattern as the rest of Config, and supports saved filters through the filter view.

Keep the two lists straight in your head. Your own trading names go in Companies. Everyone else goes here.

App settings placeholder
App settings, at config/app_settings. Placeholder image.

Config, App settings controls how lists behave across the application, not company details. The settings are:

Setting What it does
Default view Which view a grid opens in
Default density How tightly rows are packed
Page size Rows per page
Page size options The choices offered in the rows per page menu

Set the page size to something that suits your screens. A factory office on large monitors will want more rows than the default; a laptop on the floor will want fewer. Getting this right once saves everyone a click on every screen.

There is no screen for company address, tax registration, bank details or document numbering. If you expected to set a VAT number or an invoice prefix during setup, it is not in the application. Anything like that has to go into the individual records as you create them.
